Three Sooners Advance at SDSU

SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team started strong Friday at the San Diego State University Fall Classic II with three Sooners advancing to the singles quarterfinals.

Senior Brittany Baldy and sophomores Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Maria Kalashnikova won two matches each to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Baldy survived a long match against Hannah Holladay from the University of California-Irvine in the first round and then beat out Lauren Summers from the University of Washington in the second round to advance.

The Sooners struggled early in the day in the first round of doubles, posting a combined 1-4 record. Sooner duo, Kristina Radan and Peta Maree Lancaster, defeated Colorado team, Jendrian and Wahba, 8-1 to advance.

After a busy first day, the Sooners hope to extend their success Saturday as the tournament continues with more singles and doubles action.
