CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Oklahoma junior Andrei Daescu advanced to round of 16 at the ITA National Indoor Championships Thursday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va.

Daescu, now 6-3 on the year, defeated Columbia University's Bogdan Borta in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

No. 22-rated Daescu clashes with Miami's No. 3-rated Daniel Vallverdu on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST. Vallverdu defeated Martin Zimmermann of Denver in his first round match, 6-1, 6-4.

Daescu holds a 2-0 record on the season against top 50 opponents. He eliminated both No. 26 Austen Childs of Louisville and No. 44 Dominik Mueller of Baylor from the 2008 ITA All-American in October.
