NORMAN, Okla.--The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team begins its participation in the ITA All-American this weekend in Tulsa.
Ionut Beleleu, George Chanturia and Blake Boswell lead things off for OU with pre-qualifying matches beginning Saturday. Two more Sooners join the fold Sunday for the qualifying rounds and main draw.
All three Oklahoma players in pre-qualifying received a bye for Friday's first round and start play Saturday against undetermined opponents.
The tournament marks the Sooner debut of junior Blake Boswell. Boswell plays Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Cascia Hall High School.
Beleleu and Chanturia also continue their fall season on Friday. Chanturia, who holds a 2-1 singles record thus far, starts at noon at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center and Beleleu, fresh from a flight championship at the Navy Invitational where he went 3-0, begins his weekend Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
ITA No.22-rated Andrei Daescu, who was selected to participate in the main singles draw beginning Oct. 9, and Beleleu partner for the doubles qualifying round Tuesday. No. 122 Sergey Avdeyev also enters competition Monday for his singles qualifying round.
