Sooners Finish Wildcat Invitational

Evanston, Ill. – The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team finished the final day of the Wildcat Invitational Sunday with a combined 4-5 record.

The Sooners went 4-2 in the final singles draws Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Tara Eckel and freshmen Kristin Gray, Marie Huet and Kristina Radan all competed in Sunday's singles rounds. Huet and Gray each played two matches, Gray defeated both of her opponents in Flight D singles and Huet went 1-1 in the Flight C consolation round.

In doubles action the Sooners went 0-3 on the day. Two OU pairs played close matches but were eventually defeated. Maria Kalashnikova and Peta Maree Lancaster fell to Nicole Kantor and Nicole Smith of Louisiana State, 9-7. Huet teamed with Radan to take on Chelcie Abajian and Annie McCarthy from Illinois and were also defeated, 9-7.

The Sooners continue their fall season Oct 15-18 in Salt Lake City at the ITA Central Regional Championship Tournament.
