Constantinescu Defeated in ITA

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – OU sophomore Ana-Maria Constantinescu was eliminated in the qualifying round of the 2008 Riviera/ITA All-American Tournament on Tuesday.

Constantinescu was defeated by Megan Alexander of Florida 6-2, 6-0 in the first singles draw of the day.  Following the loss she faced Maria Sanchez from Southern California in the back draw of the double elimination tournament was defeated 7-5, 6-2.   

Constantinescu is ranked No. 93 in the nation following her successful 2007-2008 freshman season.  Constantinescu earned All-Big 12 honors and was named ITA Central Regional Rookie of the Year in May 2008. 

Constantinescu and the rest of the Sooners continue their fall season Oct. 10-12 at the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill.
