NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma's standout freshman Ana-Maria Constantinescu fell in straight sets Friday during the second round of the ITA National Indoor tournament.

Constantinescu was defeated by No.1-seed Megan Falcon of Louisiana State. The Romania native fell 6-3 in the first set, before battling back to keep the lead throughout the second set before losing 7-1 in a tie break.

"I am really proud of how Ana-Maria fought," OU assistant coach Raluca Gheorghe said. "I didn't see much difference in her level of play compared to Falcon. I feel that Falcon just had more experience and pulled out the points that mattered most."

The Sooner advanced to the second round after a three-set victory over Georgia Tech's Kristen Flower on Thursday.

Even with the loss, Constantinescu has started her collegiate career strong, ending her first fall season with a 9-4 singles record.

"I am disappointed that I lost," Constantinescu said. "But I felt that I played well. Falcon just played better on the big points. It was a good experience and gives me things to work on for the spring season."
