Constantinescu Falls in Final

Tulsa, Okla. - The freshman native of Bucharest, Romania, Ana-Maria Constantinescu, finished her ITA Regional Championships debut Sunday in the finals match of the main singles draw.

The Sooner, who has now reached the finals of the only two collegiate tournaments she has played, fell 6-1, 6-1 to Arkansas' Aurelijia Misevcuite.

"I am very pleased with how Ana-Maria played," said head coach Mark Johnson. "I can't remember the last time a freshman has come in and advanced to the finals of this tournament. It is a very tough draw. I am excited to see what she will do the rest of the season."

With her finals appearance, Constantinescu earned herself a spot in the National Indoor Championships which will be held Nov. 1-4 in Columbus, Ohio.

Oklahoma will continue fall training until their final tournament of the fall season, which will be the San Diego State Invitational, Nov. 2-4.
