DALLAS, Texas The Big 12 Conference has announced the pairings for the 2006 Big 12 Tennis Championships, which are set for April 27-30 at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team, the No. 10 seed in the championships, is set to play No. 7 Kansas State in the first round. Oklahoma finished with a 3-8 record in Big 12 play, and Kansas State concluded the season with a 6-5 mark. The squads will face off on Thursday at 9 a.m.
The Sooner men's tennis team enters the championships as the seventh seed and will face second-seeded Texas at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The Sooners concluded the regular season with a 1-6 mark in conference duels, while the Longhorns tallied a 6-1 record.
Should the teams advance to the quarterfinals, the women's squad will play No. 2 Texas A&M on Friday at 8:30 a.m., while the men's team will face the winner of the No. 3 Colorado versus No. 6 Texas Tech match on Saturday at 1 p.m. The championship match for the women's and men's teams are set for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, on Sunday.
Tickets for the championships will be sold at the Baylor Tennis Center on each day of the event. All-Championship passes for adults are $10 with children's passes at $5 for the weekend. General admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and students.
