Texas A&M Shuts Out Men's Tennis, 7-0

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team (14-6, 1-3) fell to Texas A&M, 7-0, on Sunday in College Station in the team's second Big 12 road match of the weekend.
In doubles, sophomore Federico Chavarria and senior Tommy Garrison were the first to fall to the Aggies. The duo lost 8-6 to Matt Bain and Jerry Makowski at the No. 2 position. Texas A&M won the doubles point after senior Alexei Ivanov and junior Marek Velicka dropped an 8-6 decision to the No. 65 tandem of Brett Joelson and Bryan Wooten at the No. 1 spot. Rounding out doubles competition were senior Matt Long and sophomore Ryan Thomas, who were defeated by Marcus Lunt and Conor Pollock, 8-6.
The Sooners could not manage to come back in singles and lost all matches. In the final singles match of the day, senior Lee Gregg faced off against Joelson and dropped the first set, 6-4, but came back with a 6-4 win in the second set. The two battled in the third set, but Joelson pulled away with a victory after winning the tiebreaker, 12-10.
Velicka, Ivanov, Garrison, freshman Sergey Avdeyev and Thomas also competed in singles but dropped their matches in straight sets.
The Sooners will take a break until Friday, April 7, when they are set to host reigning Big 12 Champion Baylor at 6 p.m. On Sunday, April 9, Oklahoma is set to host Texas Tech at 12 p.m. in Norman.
