NORMAN, Okla. -- Men's tennis head coach Paul Lockwood announced the team's 2007 spring season schedule Wednesday, Dec. 13.
The Sooners, who were 14-12 last season, will open the 2007 slate against Texas Southern on Jan. 14 in Tulsa. Oklahoma will compete against 13 non-conference teams including Arkansas, Tulsa, Northwestern and Fresno State, before beginning Big 12 play.
The team will face some of the top players in the nation when it squares off against Texas, Oklahoma State and Baylor. Texas was No. 3 at the end of 2006 with Baylor close behind at No. 4 and Oklahoma State was No. 16.
Oklahoma has an exciting home schedule lined up as they host nine matches, two of which are against rivals Texas and Oklahoma State.

The Sooners will finish non-conference play at the end of March at the Rice Invitational in Houston. Conference play will begin March 30 against Nebraska in Lincoln and end with the Big 12 Championship, April 27-29, hosted by the University of Kansas.
The Sooners welcome back four leterwinners including senior Marek Velicka who is No. 46 in preseason rankings and No. 5 in the Central Region. Freshman Ondrej Kacmar is the only newcomer for the Sooners this season. Kacmar finished the fall season 5-3.
