OU vs. Wichita State Men's Tennis Match Cancelled, Sooners To Host No. 2 Baylor

April 07, 2004 | Men's Tennis

Due to inclement weather, Wednesday's men's tennis match between Oklahoma and Wichita State was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

The Sooners remain at 15-4 and 1-2 in Big 12 play as they host second-ranked and Big 12 leader Baylor (19-2, 4-0 Big 12) on Sat., April 10, at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Action is set to begin at 12 p.m. Admission is free.

The Bears are the highest ranked team the Sooners have faced this season. Baylor is on an 11-match winning streak and is lead by second-ranked Benedikt Dorsch at the No. 1 singles position.

Leading the Sooners is freshman standout Marek Velicka (Prerov, Czech Republic) who owns an impressive 17-2 overall record while sophomore Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.) is 16-2 and junior Ondrej Fukala (Prerov, Czech Republic) is 15-2 on the season.

Oklahoma has not fared well against Baylor as the Bears own a 7-1 all-time Big 12 record versus OU.  OU defeated Baylor, 4-3, in 1997, the first year of Big 12 play.
