Norman, Okla. -- The women's side of the 2004 Big 12 Tennis Championship began play today as the eight lower seeds (No. 5-12) are facing off for the right to advance in bracket play.
This morning, No. 9 Kansas defeated No. 8 Texas Tech, 4-1, while No. 5 Colorado beat No. 12 Iowa State, 4-0.
This afternoon, No. 7 Nebraska faces No. 10 Oklahoma State and No. 6 Missouri plays No. 11 Kansas State. The winners of each of those matches advance to play the top four seeds on Friday.
The men's bracket begins play on Friday morning with No. 2 Texas A&M facing No. 7 Colorado.

The Oklahoma women are seeded No. 3 and play the winner of today's Missouri-Kansas State match at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
The OU men's team, with a No. 4 seed, wrap up Friday's action with a match against in-state rival OSU at 6 p.m.
