Garrison was given special recognition as the only male student-athlete with a superior 4.00 grade-point average. He was among four combined student-athletes nominated for their flawless academic performance, marking his first scholastic acknowledgement.
Tanasoiu, a psychology major, receives his first academic award upon his transfer to Oklahoma in 2002. Long, a construction science major, was a second-team pick in 2003, marking his second consecutive year to be garnered as All-Big 12. Ivanov, a management information systems major, accepts the tribute for the first time, but is no stranger to academic distinctions as he was selected to the ITA Academic All-American Team last season.
The Big 12 appointed 16 men to the first team and four to the second team. First-team membersconsist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade-point average, while the second-team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
