Women's Tennis Set to Face Tulsa

This Week In Women's Tennis
 The 24th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team (11-1) hosts three home matches this week at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. OU faces No. 51 Tulsa (9-5) on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. The Sooners next host 10th-ranked Texas (12-2) on Saturday, and then No. 18 Texas A&M (11-6) on Sunday. Both matches begin at 12 p.m. and admission is free.

Last Time Against TU
 Regional opponents Oklahoma and Tulsa last met in the spring of 2003. The Sooners defeated a tough Tulsa team, 4-3, on the Golden Hurricanes home courts.

Sooners Defeat William & Mary and George Mason
 Oklahoma improved its match winning streak to six, by defeating No. 34 William and Mary, 4-3, and George Mason, 7-0, in Virginia last week. The Sooners dominated in doubles play, winning the doubles point in both duals. Against W&M, the Sooners picked up three singles wins from senior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania), and freshmen Gabby Baker (Gold Coast, Australia) and Irina Lykina (Kazan, Russia). Against GMU, the Sooners swept the singles at all six positions. 

Oklahoma Moves Up In The ITA Rankings
 The Sooners moved up eight spots in the latest ITA rankings to No. 24 as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association last week. The rankings reflect wins over eight nationally-ranked teams this spring, including a recent win over No. 21 BYU.

Perianu Continues to Defend  No. 7 Ranking
 Senior standout Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) continues to defend her No. 7 national ranking. Perianu is now 9-1 on the season in singles play including wins over five nationally-ranked players. Most recently Perianu defeated 19th-ranked Megan Muth of William & Mary, 7-5, 6-2.

Sooner Spring Statistics
 Several Sooners own dominant records so far this spring. Senior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) is on a four match winning streak and owns an impressive 8-1 record at No. 1 singles. Freshman Irina Lykina (Kazan, Russia) is on a three match winning streak and also holds an impressive spring record of 8-2, while junior Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa)  and freshman Gabby Baker (Gold Coast, Australia) both own records of 7-3 this spring.

OU To Host Big 12 Championships
 Oklahoma will host the 2004 Men's and Women's Big 12 Tennis Championships at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Tournament action begins Fri., April 30, and runs through Sun., May 2. Ticket prices are as follows: All session four day pass, $15, single session adult pass, $5, and single session youth/student pass, $2.
