 The 28th-ranked and undefeated Oklahoma women's tennis team (5-0) looks for another win over a ranked opponent when the Sooners take on  No. 51 New Mexico (3-2) on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Santa Fe Country Club at 4 p.m. in Oklahoma City.

Series Record/Last Time Against New Mexico
  The Sooner women defeated regional opponent New Mexico, 6-1, last season at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. Overall OU leads the all-time series over the Lobos 8-5 in head-to-head duals.

Oklahoma Moves Up In The ITA Rankings
 The Sooners moved up eight spots in the latest ITA rankings to No. 28 as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association last week. The rankings reflect two wins over ranked opponents in past weeks. OU defeated No. 42 San Diego, 5-2, and upset No.27 Arizona, 4-3, both in Tuscon, Ariz.

Perianu Defends  No. 3 Ranking
 Senior standout Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) has been busy defending her No. 3 national ranking. Perianu is now 3-0 on the season in singles play including wins over two nationally ranked players. Perianu defeated Arizona's 28th-ranked Dianne Hollands, 6-3, 7-5, and  40th-ranked Lauren Pearl of San Diego, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1.

Undefeated Sooners
 Four Sooners are undefeated in singles play after five matches. Junior Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) and freshmen Irina Lykina (Kazan, Russia) and Amanda Pratzel (St. Louis, Mo.) are all 4-0 on the season, while senior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) is 3-0. In doubles play, OU's team of Bethany Griffin (Amarillo, Texas) and Gabby Baker (Gold Coast, Australia) remains undefeated at the No. 3 spot at 2-0.

Mark Johnson In 16th Year At Oklahoma
      In his 16th season as head coach at Oklahoma, Mark Johnson owns a career record of 240-119 (.668). He has also coached four teams, three singles competitors and four doubles pairs to the NCAA Championships.  Johnson has won five coach of the year honors, including Big Eight Coach of the Year in 1991, 1994 and 1995, Big 12 Tri-Coach of the Year in 1999 and most recently the ITA Central Region Coach of the Year in 2003.
  
OU To Host Big 12 Championships
 Oklahoma will host the 2004 Men's and Women's Big 12 Tennis Championships at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Tournament action begins Fri., April 30 and runs through Sun., May 2. Ticket prices are as follows; All session four day pass, $15, single session adult pass, $5, and single session youth/student pass, $2.
