NORMAN, Okla. A pair of University of Oklahoma men's tennis players advanced Tuesday in the doubles bracket of the qualifying portion of the 2004 Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. Senior Ondrej Fukala and junior Tommy Garrison defeated David Goulet and Dmitriy Koch of Tulane, 8-6, inside the Champions Tennis Club. The win improved the duo to 3-2 on the fall portion of the schedule.
The Sooners return to action in a round of 16 Wednesday at 1 p.m. when they will face Thomas Schoeck and Luke Shields of Boise State.
In Oklahoma's only loss of the day, Fukala fell to Marty Steigwardt of Tulane, 6-3, 6-4. Fukala, the last remaining OU singles player, concluded the singles portion of the ITA tournament for the Sooners.
