OU Tennis Concludes Final Day At Tulsa Polo Preview

The University of Oklahoma men's and women's tennis teams took to the courts Sunday for the final day of the prestigious Polo Tennis National Collegiate Preview at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The Sooner women picked up four singles victories, while the men recorded one.

On the Women's side, sophomore Joi-Lee Beachler (Edmond, Okla.) led the Sooners with a three-set win over Brittany Brown of Kansas in Flight A. Beachler won a tough first set tie-break, 7-6, dropped the second set, 4-6, but came back and dominated the third set,6-0, for the match. Also in Flight A action, junior Jessica Braver (Edmond, Okla.) had a solid two-set victory over Kansas' Christine Skoda, 6-3, 7-5. In Flight B, freshman Amanda Pratzel (St. Louis, Mo.) remained undefeated with a straight-set win over Luiza Loureiro of Kansas, 6-4, 6-2. Fellow freshman Anne Carter (Edmond, Okla.)also picked up a win over Kansas' Ashley Filberth, 6-3, 6-1.

For the Sooner men, freshman Ondrej Fukala (Prerov, Czech Republic) picked up the only win of the day. Fukala held off Marvin Rolle of Texas A&M, 7-6, 6-3. Competing strong for the Sooners was Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.). Gregg lost a tough three- setter to Zack Malmgren of Texas A&M, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.

Next up for OU, senior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) and junior Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) will compete for the Sooner women at the All-American Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif., on Oct 7-12. The men's team will travel to the UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas, on Oct 3-11.
