Perianu And Saluri Finish Run At NCAA Doubles Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma's 30th-ranked team of junior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) and sophomore Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) concluded a great season Tuesday as they were defeated in three sets by Tulane's 10th-ranked pair of Jenny Kuhn and Julie Smekodub in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Doubles Championships at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla. Perianu and Saluri fought back after dropping the first set to take the second set, 7-5, before falling in the third.
The loss ended Perianu and Saluri's five-match win streak while dropping them to 18-3 this spring and 23-4 overall. The All-Big 12 first team doubles selections were the fourth Oklahoma duo since 1994 to qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships.
