OU Women's Tennis Shuts Out Wichita State

NORMAN, Okla. - The 52nd-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team shut out its fourth consecutive opponent Friday afternoon at the Woodlake Racquet Club in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Sooners blanked regional foe Wichita State, 7-0, to improve to 4-0 overall. OU also moved to 2-0 against regional opponents. The Shockers fell to 1-2 on the season.
The Sooners dominated the match winning all six singles matches along with the three doubles matches. Junior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) remained undefeated at No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Amanda Cervantes. Senior Elena Jirnova (Kiev, Romania) was tested a No. 2 singles but prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 10-3. In doubles, Perianu and sophomore Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) pushed their spring record to 2-0 at No. 1 doubles and their overall record to 7-1 with an 8-2 victory over Cervantes and Ana Exeni.
The Sooners look to extend their winning streak Saturday against Centenary at the Santa Fe Country Club in Oklahoma City (6300 N. Santa Fe). Match time is scheduled for noon.
