OU Women's Tennis Finishes Second Day At Air Force Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team went 7-5 in singles action and 1-2 in doubles play at the Falcon Fall Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Saturday. The Sooners are competing in a field that includes Colorado, Denver, Air Force, Northern Illinois, Wyoming, Texas-El Paso and Washington State.
Singles action in flight one saw senior Elena Jirnova (Kiev, Ukraine) and senior Annete Bryntesson (Perth, Australia) each go 1-1. In flight two, sophomore Bethany Griffin (Amarillo, Texas) went 2-0 and will compete in the finals of the winner's bracket while and sophomore Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) went 1-1. In flight three, freshman Joi-Lee Beachler (Oklahoma City, Okla.) was defeated while sophomore Jessica Braver (Edmond, Okla.) was victorious.
In flight one of doubles, Braver and Jirnova came up short in the semifinals of the winner's bracket while Bryntesson and Griffin moved on to the finals of the consolation bracket. Saluri and Beachler were defeated in the semifinals of the winner's bracket.
Singles is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and will be followed by the doubles matches.
