OU Women's Tennis Set To Begin Season At Air Force Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team embarks on the fall portion of the 2002-03 season Friday at the Falcon Fall Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. The three-day tournament will include Colorado, Denver, Wyoming, Northern Illinois, Texas El-Paso and Washington State.

Singles competition will have three flights while there will be two flights in doubles action. Each flight in singles will consist of 16 players with two players from each school. In doubles, one flight will have 16 teams while the other will have only eight.

Six Sooners will be competing including seniors Annette Bryntesson (Perth, Australia) and Elena Jirnova (Kiev, Ukraine), sophomores Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa), Bethany Griffin (Amarillo, Texas) and Jessica Braver (Edmond, Okla.) and freshman Joi-Lee Beachler (Oklahoma City, Okla.).

Singles action in flights one and two will start at 9 a.m. while the third will begin at 10:30 a.m. Flight one in doubles is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and flight two is set to start at 3:15 p.m.
