OU Men's Tennis Finishes First Day At Hurricane Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team went 2-3 in singles action and 4-2 in doubles play at the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament is being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with a field including Tulsa, Arkansas, Drake, Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State and Tulane.

In singles action, sophomores Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas) and Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas) were both first-round winners. Senior Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.) and sophomore Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) were each defeated in three-set decisions while freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) also fell in the first round.

In the doubles main draw, OU was led by Garrison and Long who went 2-0 on the day while Prigmore and sophomore Matt Lopez (Enid, Okla.) went 1-1. Ogle and Nomicos lost their first round match but were victorious in the first round of the doubles backdraw.

The singles main draw and back draw will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. The doubles back draw is set to begin at 12 p.m. while the doubles main draw will start at 1:30 p.m.
