OU's Perianu Set to Play At The NCAA Individual Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma sophomore Anda Perianu will face Florida senior Jessica Lehnhoff tomorrow at 5 p.m. CST in the first round of the 2002 NCAA individual championships at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, California.
In her first season as a Sooner, Perianu went 22-6 in singles play and has been ranked as high as No. 73 in the Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll. Perianu won her last seven matches of the season and hasn't lost since falling to Baylor's Katja Kovac on April 4. After her stellar season, Perianu was selected the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, named to the All-Big 12 Team and was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Jessica Lehnhoff was 31-3 overall this season. The Gator senior was a perfect 10-0 in Southeastern Conference play and helped lead her team to a 24-1 record. She was recently named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Senior Player of the Year.
The winner of the first round will advance to the round of 32 set for Tuesday, May 21, at the Taube Tennis Center.
