OU's Perianu Set to Play At The NCAA Individual Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma sophomore Anda Perianu has been selected to participate in the 2002 NCAA individual championships beginning Monday, May 20, in Stanford, California. Match times and opponents will be announced at a later date.

In her first season as a Sooner, Perianu went 22-6 in singles play and has been ranked as high as No. 73 in the Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll. Perianu won her last seven matches of the season and hasn't lost since falling to Baylor's Katja Kovac on April 4. After her stellar season, Perianu was selected the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, named to the All-Big 12 Team and was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
