Perianu Named To All-Big 12 Women's Tennis Team

NORMAN, Okla. - After a 16-8 season, the Oklahoma women's tennis team had one student-athlete, sophomore Anda Perianu, garner All-Big 12 honors. The Braila, Romania, native ended the year with a 22-6 overall and 18-5 spring record. She was ranked 79th in the ITA National Collegiate Poll prior to the Big 12 Championships last weekend, while the Sooners were ranked 45th as a team.
There were 12 players selected to the All-Big 12 women's team. They included Katja Kovac (Baylor), Vida Mulec (Baylor), Lia Dimingo (Colorado), Alena Jecminkova (Kansas State), Usrka Juric (Missouri), Linda Faltynkova (Oklahoma State), Vladka Uhlirova (Texas), Kaysie Smashey (Texas), Jessica Roland (Texas A&M), Olivia Karlikova (Texas A&M) and Irina Tereschenko (Texas Tech).
Seven doubles teams also earned All-Big 12 honors. Those teams included Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec (Baylor), Alena Jecminkova and Andrea Cooper (Kansas State), Usrka Juric and Katka Sevcikova (Missouri), Linda Faltynkova and Katia Kolodynska (Oklahoma State), Vladka Uhlirova and Ziva Garsic (Texas), Ashley Hedberg and Jessica Roland (Texas A&M) and Irina Tereschenko and Beverly Dawson (Texas Tech).
The selection for the NCAA Tournament will be on Thursday, May 2. The Sooners made their last appearance at the NCAA Tournament in 1997-98, but fell to Kansas, 5-2, in the first round.
