Women's Tennis Defeats Missouri, 4-3

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team defeated Missouri, 4-3, on Saturday, April 20, at the MU Outdoor Tennis Complex in Columbia, Mo. The No. 49 Sooners have now won three consecutive league matches heading into next week's Big 12 Conference Tournament. OU finishes the regular season 14-7 overall, 4-6 in league play. Missouri finishes the season 10-11, 2-9 in conference play.

Sophomore Anda Perianu, junior Elena Jirnova and junior Annette Bryntesson were victorious at the No. 1, 2, and 3 singles spots. Perianu and Bryntesson finish the season 19-6, and 16-9, respectively, in singles play. In doubles action, freshman Jessica Braver and Bryntesson won at the No. 2 spot, 8-5. Junior Melissa Mendieta and Perianu claimed the No. 3 spot, 8-3, to give the Sooners the crucial doubles point.

Oklahoma returns to action next week, April 25-28, in the Big 12 Tournament in College Station, Texas.
