Women's Tennis Loses First Match of The Year

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team lost its first match of the season 6-1, to No. 48 Kansas State on Saturday at the Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan. The Sooners are now 8-1 on the season and 2-1 against ranked opponents, with wins over No. 59 New Mexico and No. 22 Texas Christian. The Wildcats improved to 7-2.
OU's Bethany Griffin beat Paulina Castillejos, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot for the Sooners only singles victory. Oklahoma's duo of Anda Perianu and Elena Jirnova improved to 8-0 in doubles play, defeating Castillejos and Maria Rosenburg 8-6.
Oklahoma returns to action tomorrow, March 10, against No. 59 Kansas. Match time is set for 11 a.m. at the Robinson Courts in Lawrence, Kan.
