Women's Tennis Falls To No. 59 Kansas, 6-1

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team lost to Kansas, 6-1, on Sunday, March 10, at the Robinson Courts in Lawrence, Kan. The No. 37 Sooners started the season 8-0, but lost both weekend matches to No. 48 Kansas State and No. 59 Kansas, to fall to 0-2 in the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks improved to 7-3 on the year, 3-0 in the Big 12.
OU's Anda Perianu came away with the Sooners' only singles win, easily defeating the Wildcat's Cheryl Mallaiah at the No. 1 spot to impove to 8-1 on the season. Oklahoma's duo of Perianu and Elena Jirnova are a perfect 8-0 in doubles action on the year, defeating KU's Aurelie Bejar and Mallaiah at the No. 3 spot.
Oklahoma returns to action Monday, March 18, against Chaminade University. match time is set for 4 p.m. in Honolulu, Hawaii.
