Women's Tennis Defeats No. 59 New Mexico, 4-3

NORMAN, Okla. - In its second match of the season, the Oklahoma women's tennis team came away with a 4-3 victory over 59th-ranked New Mexico (2-3) on Tuesday in Albuquerque. The Sooners move to 3-0 on the season after sweeping Oklahoma Baptist in two matches last weekend.
Oklahoma junior Annette Bryntesson, sophomore Anda Perianu and freshman Heather Saluri won their singles matches, with Bryntesson and Saluri losing the first set but winning the next two to take the point. Freshman Bethany Griffin and Saluri teamed up at No. 1 doubles and defeated Michelle Heidbrink and Courtney Choate, 8-6, while Perianu and junior Elena Jirnova took the point and match in No. 3 doubles, winning 9-7.
Oklahoma is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 10, against Minnesota. Match time is set for noon at the Sante Fe Country Club in Oklahoma City (6300 N. Sante Fe).
