Women's Tennis Knocks Off No. 22 Texas Christian

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team upset No. 22 TCU, 4-3, on Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. OU continues its hot start, improving to 6-0 on the season. Texas Christian falls to 6-3 on the year.
The Sooners won three of the six singles matches and were tied with TCU heading into doubles play. Sophomore Anda Perianu picked up her fifth singles win of the season with a three set victory, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, over TCU's top player No. 98 Paty Aburto. Oklahoma's Annette Bryntesson and Bethany Griffin picked up singles wins at No. 4, (6-3, 6-3), and No. 5 singles, (6-3, 6-4), respectively. The Lady Frogs, led by the No. 46 doubles duo of Rosa Perez and Aburto, won the No. 1 doubles match, 8-3, over OU's Griffin and Heather Saluri. However, The Sooners rallied behind the combination of Jessica Braver and Bryntesson and Anda Perianu and Elena Jirnova at No. 2 (8-5) and No. 3 (8-4) doubles for the victory.
Oklahoma returns home on Friday, March 1, to host Oral Roberts in its first match at the newly constructed OU Headington Family Tennis Center at 1:30 p.m.
