Women's Tennis Takes On St. Louis Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's tennis team puts its flawless record, 4-0, on the line this weekend. OU will face St. Louis (3-1) on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. at the Sante Fe Country Club in Oklahoma City. The Sooners boast their best start since opening the 1995-96 season 10-0.
OU has defeated Oklahoma Baptist (twice), then-No. 59 New Mexico and Minnesota. Leading OU into the weekend are sophomore Anda Perianu, who sports a perfect 3-0 record at No. 2 singles, and freshman Heather Saluri, who has a 4-0 record at the No. 2, 4 and 5 spots in singles play. The duo of Perianu and junior Elena Jirnova are 3-0 in No. 2 and 3 doubles action.
St. Louis is coming off a 7-0 sweep of IUPU Forth Wayne (Ind.) and has posted wins over Southeast Missouri State, Eastern Illinois, while losing to Iowa State.
Oklahoma holds its home opener on Friday, March 1, against Oral Roberts at 1:30 p.m. This will be the first match held at the newly constructed OU Headington Family Tennis Center located at Chatauqua and Imhoff.
