Women's Tennis Duo Falls To No. 1 Seed At Central Region Championship Final

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Okiahoma doubles team of junior Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) and sophomore Heather Saluri (Des Moines, Iowa) were defeated by Missouri's Urska Juric and Katia Seveikova (9-7) in the final round of the doubles draw at the Omni Hotels Central Region Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Sunday morning.

Juric and Seveikova were seeded No. 1 going into the tournament and are currently ranked 48th in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Perianu and Saluri were unseeded and finished the tournament with a record of 5-1.

The tournament was held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with a field including players from Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Creighton, Denver, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Montana, Montana State, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Southwest Missouri State, Saint Louis, Tulsa, Utah, Utah State and Wichita State.

The Sooners are scheduled to finish their fall season at the National Intercollegiate Indoors in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 7-10 and the San Diego Invitational in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 8-10.
