OU Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at TCU Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The 2001-02 University of Oklahoma women's tennis team is opening its fall schedule by competing in the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22. Competition begins at 9 a.m. on both days at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the TCU campus. Friday's events include two rounds of singles play and one round of doubles while Saturday consists of two rounds of doubles play and one round of singles.
There will be 12 teams at the event including Texas Tech, Texas-Arlington, Texas-San Antonio, Abilene Christian, SMU, Baylor, North Texas, Saint Louis, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tyler Junior College and TCU.
The Sooners welcome five new faces to the squad and return four letterwinners. OU Head Coach Mark Johnson will lead the Sooners in his 14th year at the helm of the women's tennis program. The Sooners look to improve upon last year's 6-13 overall mark and their 1-10 Big 12 Conference finish.
