Women's Tennis Fares Well In Third Day Of Play

NORMAN, Okla. - In its third day of competiton at the Omni Hotels Central Region Tennis Championships, the University of Oklahoma women's tennis team had two players advance to the third round of the tournament as Elena Jirnova and Anda Perianu won their matches on Friday in Tulsa.
Jirnova swept Iowa State's Noortje Cornelissen (6-3, 6-2) and will play fifth-seeded Petra Sedlmajerova of Kanasas State Perianu will compete against Tulsa's Alicia Pillay, seeded seventh, after winning, 7-5, 6-3, over Oyuki Cruz of Souhtwest Missouri State.
In late doubles action on Thursday, junior Annette Bryntesson and freshman Jessica Braver defeated Utah State's Sarah Lowe and Caroline Pollock, 9-8. The duo of freshmen Heather Saluri and Bethany Griffin lost to Boise State's Erin Polowski and Jemina Hayward, 8-5.
The championships continue on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m.
