ATHENS, Ga. - Three Oklahoma Men's Tennis Players will be in action this week at the NCAA Individual and Doubles Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex located on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia.
Senior Dusty Beard will be in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against the No. 4 seed Matias Boeker of Georgia. Boeker is currently ranked 12th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and has an overall record of 32-14. Against ranked opponents, Boeker is 13-8. Beard is currently ranked 92nd by the ITA and is currently riding a seven-match winning streak. The Jenks High School product boasts an overall singles record of 19-10 and was recently named to the Big 12 all-conference singles team for the third straight year. His victory over then-23rd-ranked Johann Jooste of Baylor on April 21 earned him Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week honors.
On Thursday, OU seniors Charlie Roberson and Rick Warren will take on Michael Blue and Nick Crowell of Texas in a rematch of an earlier contest this year between the two teams. Blue and Crowell defeated Roberson and Warren in the first contest, 8-5, en route to a 6-1 Texas victory over Oklahoma. Blue and Crowell are ranked fourth in the nation and are 14-6 in dual matches and 12-2 in tournament play.
Roberson and Warren have an overall record of 20-14 this season playing primarily at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo was ranked as high as 30th by the ITA this season and defeated four ranked opponents. Both were recently voted to the Big 12 All-Doubles team. Match time will be scheduled tomorrow.
