Men's Tennis Victorious In Home Finale

NORMAN, Okla. - The 50th-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team defeated Colorado, 4-3, this afternoon at the Westwood Tennis Courts in Norman. The match marked the final home match for OU seniors Dusty Beard, Jeremy Dunham, Charlie Roberson and Rick Warren. With the win, OU improves to 15-11 overall and 2-6 in conference play. The loss drops Colorado to 1-7 in conference play and 8-10 overall.

OU took an early lead in the match winning two out of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Seniors Roberson and Warren beat CU's Maciej Dilaj and Mirko Jovanovic, 8-6. And seniors Beard and Dunham were victorious over Bryan Knepper and Justin Hunter, 8-4.

In singles action at the No. 1 position, Beard extended his current winning streak to five matches overpowering Dilaj, 6-1, 6-2. Roberson picked up a victory at the No. 3 position beating Artur Rusiecki, 6-2, 6-2. And freshman Tobias Kronlein earned his 20th victory of the season while clinching the 4-3 victory for OU defeating Andy Winter, 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 6 position. Kronlein has an overall record of 20-5 this season.

The Sooners will now head to Kansas City, Mo., on April 27-30 for the 2000 Big 12 Championships.
