Men's Tennis Falls To No. 63 Texas Tech, 4-3

NORMAN, Okla. - The 52nd-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team was defeated by No. 63 Texas Tech, 4-3, this afternoon at the Westwood Tennis Courts in Norman. With the loss, OU drops to 14-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The win pushed Texas Tech's overall record to 3-5 in conference play and 9-11 overall.

In doubles action, OU seniors Charlie Roberson and Rick Warren picked up their second-straight conference win defeating Jevgenij Cariov and Borut Martincevic, 8-2. The Red Raiders rebounded winning the two other singles matches giving Texas Tech the doubles point.

At the No. 1 position in singles action, senior Dusty Beard earned his third-straight conference victory beating Cariov in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Julio Martinez and freshman Tobias Kronlein also won in straight sets at the No. 4 and the No. 6 positions respectively.

Texas Tech responded by winning in straight sets at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The Red Raiders clinched the 4-3 victory at the No. 5 position with Clay Estes ousting senior Rick Warren in three sets, 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.

The Sooners continue conference play this Friday, April 21, against fifth-ranked Baylor at the Westwood Tennis Courts in Norman. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
