OU Men's Tennis Drops Heartbreaker To No. 50 OSU, 4-3

STILLWATER, Okla. - The 52nd-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team was edged by No. 50 Oklahoma State, 4-3, this afternoon at the DuBois Tennis Center in Stillwater. With the loss, the Sooners dropped to 0-4 in conference play and 11-9 on the season. OSU pushed its record to 2-1 in conference play and 9-4 overall.

The Cowboys took the advantage in the early stages of the match by winning all three of the doubles matchesgiving them the doubles point.

In singles competition, OU senior Dusty Beard defeated Chris Bates, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 2 position. At the No. 5 position, senior Rick Warren beat Jeremy Ewert, 7-6, 6-3. And freshman Tobias Kronlein outlasted Jiri Jezek, 3-6, 6-2 and 7-6, at the No. 6 position. The victory pushed Kronlein's overall record to 15-4 on the season.

The Sooners could not muster another victory in the singles competition as the Cowboys won the other three matches at the No. 1, 3 and 4 positions.

The Sooners return home to begin a four-match homestand that starts this Saturday, April 15, when they face Nebraska at the Westwood Tennis Courts in Norman. Match time is set for 12 noon.
