OU Men's Tennis Blanked By Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kansas -- The 49th-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team was defeated by the Kansas Jayhawks, 7-0, today at the Alvamar Raquet Club in Lawrence. The loss drops OU to 0-3 in Big 12 Conference play and 11-8 for the season. KU improves to 6-8 on the season and 3-1 in the Big 12.

In doubles action, seniors Charlie Roberson and Rick Warren won the only victory for OU all day. The 49th-ranked duo beat the 45th-ranked team of Ed Dus and Rodrigo Echagaray, 9-7. The Sooners dropped the other two doubles matches, 8-5 and 8-3, giving KU the doubles point.

At the No. 1 position in singles action, senior Dusty Beard pushed 74th-ranked Echagaray to a third set before losing, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. At the No. 6 position, freshman Tobias Kronlein lost a third set tie-break to Dus and was defeated, 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(9).

The Sooners will have a week and a half to prepare for their next match on the road against No. 75 Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
