OU Men's Tennis Bows Out of Region V Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma men's tennis players finished competing in the Region V ITA Mid-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., this weekend. The three day event included 19 schools from Region V, with the finalists in both singles and doubles earning an automatic trip to the 2001 National Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 15-18.

Sophomore Tobias Kronlein suffered a 6-1, 6-1, loss in the Round of 16 to eventual finalist Rodrigo Echagaray of Kansas. The Sooner doubles team of Kronlein and fellow sophomore Chris Mitchell lost its opening round match to Jonas Piibor and Vidovic Vedran of Indiana State, 8-4.

The tournament marks the end of the fall tennis season for the Oklahoma men.
