OU Womens Tennis Enters Final Homestand

NORMAN, Okla. - The 56th-ranked Oklahoma womens tennis team (12-7, 5-2 Big 12) will close out its 1999 home season this weekend with a pair of matches against conference rivals Texas Tech (4-14, 2-7 Big 12) and No. 48 Kansas (9-10, 5-2 Big 12). The dual against the Red Raiders is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday and the match versus the Jayhawks is scheduled to start at Noon on Sunday. Sundays match will be the final home meet for three OU seniors, Barbie Bayless, Raluca Gheorghe and Danielle Knipp. Both contests will be played at the Westwood Tennis Center in Norman.

With a 5-2 league record, Oklahoma is tied with Colorado and Kansas for the third spot in the latest conference standings. In their most recent match, the Sooners suffered one of those losses as they were shocked by No. 66 Nebraksa, 5-4. Prior to the dual meet against NU, the Sooners had won four of their last five matches including upsets of No. 34 Texas A&M, No. 53 Tulsa and No. 47 Baylor.
