NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma's men's tennis team was defeated 6-1 by Notre Dame Friday night at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in South Bend, Ind. The Fighting Irish, who ended the 1999 spring season ranked 30th in the nation, won five of six singles and claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
Capturing OU's only point was junior Julio Martinez, who transfer to OU from Oklahoma City University. Martinez defeated Notre Dame's Aaron Talarico in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. Winning at the No. 2 doubles position was OU's Dusty Beard and Jeremy Dunham. The duo defeated UND's Jake Cram and Casey Smith, 8-3.
