AUBURN, Ala. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the opening day of competition Thursday at the SEC Outdoor Championships at Hutsell-Rosen Track, with the women totaling 11 points through day one.
Ally Stephenson and Angel Richmore opened the meet in the heptathlon, with both Sooners recording personal-best performances in the 100-meter hurdles. Stephenson finished second in 13.47 (+2.7), while Richmore placed fifth with a time of 13.86 (+2.5).
Richmore followed with a first-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 13.94m (45'9.00") to move to No. 2 in the heptathlon standings heading into Friday's events.
Kennedy Clarke scored the first points of the meet for Oklahoma, placing fourth in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 64.13m (210'4.00") to add five points to the team total.
The day was highlighted by freshman Domtila Cheruto, who captured the bronze medal in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 33:15.10. The performance marked Cheruto's first conference medal and added to a standout freshman campaign that has already featured four school records.
Elsewhere in the field events, Amiyah Norwood recorded a personal-best 48.43m (158'10.00") in the women's javelin to place ninth, narrowly missing scoring position. Brendon See finished 12th in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 60.69m (199'1.00").
