Track & Field Gears Up for Senior Day at Sooner Invitational

April 30, 2026 | Track and Field

NORMAN — Oklahoma track and field returns home Saturday, May 2, to host the Sooner Invitational at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex in its final home meet of the outdoor season. The meet will also serve as Senior Day, with 23 Sooners set to be recognized on the track at approximately 12:30 p.m. CT.

Field events will begin at 11 a.m. CT with the men's hammer throw, featuring Oklahoma's Brendon See and Connor Jones. Running events are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. CT with the men's 4x100-meter relay. Admission is free for all fans.

As the outdoor regular season nears its conclusion, the Sooners will look to continue improving their regional marks in pursuit of qualifying for the NCAA West Regional and, ultimately, the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.

Last time out

Oklahoma is coming off a strong showing at the OU O'Ring Alumni Open, where the Sooners totaled 18 event titles and three top-10 marks in program history. The meet featured dominant performances across both track and field events, highlighted by multiple personal-best efforts and three program top-10 marks.

Sooners in the rankings

Oklahoma enters the weekend with several top-10 national marks. Ralford Mullings holds the No. 2 mark in the NCAA in the men's discus, while Tyson Ritz ranks No. 4 in the men's high jump. Kennedy Stringfellow sits No. 6 in the men's long jump, and Hannah Pfiffner is No. 10 in the women's high jump.

As a group, the men's high jump and men's triple jump squads are ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings. The women's triple jump ranks No. 4, followed by the women's pole vault at No. 5 and the women's long jump at No. 8.

Run it back

The Sooners are in their second season in the SEC, one of the premier conferences in collegiate track and field. In their inaugural season, Oklahoma captured eight individual conference titles and finished fourth on the women's side at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship. At the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the men earned a sixth-place finish, the program's best outdoor nationals result in 28 years.
