NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams return to action this weekend at the Battle on the Bayou, hosted by LSU at Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4. A total of 53 Sooners are set to compete.

Friday's competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's hammer throw, while Saturday's action is set to start at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's discus.

Last time out

Last weekend, the Oklahoma men's and women's track and field team competed at the Raleigh Relays, where six Sooner distance runners took part in two days of competition at the Paul Derr Track Facility.

Evans Biwott led the way Thursday with a sixth-place finish in the men's 5,000 meters, clocking 13:39.12 to move to No. 4 in OU history. In the 10,000 meters, Ronald Ngetich posted a personal-best 28:30.17 to place sixth and rank No. 2 in program history, while Shadrack Kiptoo's 29:16.72 sits No. 9 all-time.

On Friday, Leah Jeruto finished second in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:57.41, the No. 2 time in the NCAA this season. Domtila Cheruto capped the meet with a school-record 32:18.83 in the women's 10,000 meters, her third program record of the year.

Run it back

The Sooners are in their second season in the SEC, one of the premier conferences in collegiate track and field. In their inaugural season, Oklahoma captured eight individual conference titles and finished fourth on the women's side at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship. At the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the men earned a sixth-place finish, the program's best outdoor nationals result in 28 years.
