Summy Posts Top-10 Finish at the Ford Collegiate

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. – In the final regular-season tournament of his decorated career, Oklahoma senior Jase Summy tied for sixth at the Ford Collegiate on Tuesday, leading the Sooners to a ninth-place team finish.
Summy's top-10 showing marked the 17th of his career, while his two rounds in the 60s at The Ford Field & River Club pushed his career total to 51, extending his school record.
As a team, Oklahoma finished 4-under (275-282-279) to place ninth in the 12-team field at the par-70 course. No. 4 Texas claimed the team title at 43-under, followed by No. 1 Auburn at 32-under.
Summy opened with a 4-under 66 on Monday morning before carding an even-par 70 in the second round. He closed with another 66 on Tuesday to climb back into the top 10. The Keller, Texas, product now owns five top-10 finishes this season and 17 for his career. One of the most accomplished players in program history, Summy enters postseason play with a 70.83 career scoring average (-0.48 vs. par), the best marks in Oklahoma history.
Junior Ryder Cowan was the only other Sooner to finish under par, tying for 24th at 2-under after rounds of 68-69-71. Ranked seventh nationally entering the week, Cowan now has a team-best 14 rounds in the 60s this season as he continues to build an All-America case.
Matthew Troutman (T36, +2) and Cameron Cheek (T41, +4) each added top-50 finishes for Oklahoma. Asher Whitaker, competing unattached, placed 55th at 7-over, while freshman Coltrane Mittag finished 60th at 9-over.
Auburn's Jackson Koivun, the top-ranked amateur in the world, captured medalist honors by defeating Texas' Christian Maas in a playoff after both finished at 13-under.
Oklahoma now turns its attention to the postseason, opening April 22-26 at the SEC Championship in St. Simons Island, Ga., at Sea Island Golf Club.
