MANHATTAN, KAN. — OU's track and field men's and women's teams completed day one of the DeLoss Dodds Invitational Friday, highlighted by four marks on the Oklahoma performance list and six personal bests.
Competition is set to resume Saturday afternoon, beginning with field events at 1:45 p.m., followed by running events at 2:05 p.m.
In the first event of the day, senior
Ally Stephenson secured the 60-meter hurdle section in the pentathlon field, notching her name at No. 5 in OU history. Graduate transfer
Kennedy Jackson put up a score of 3,738 in her pentathlon debut as a Sooner, marking her spot at No. 10 on the Oklahoma top performances list.
Redshirt junior
Kennedy Clarke took third with her toss of 20.09m (65'11.00") in the finals for women's weight throw.
Freshman
Jordan Atkinson finished second in the women's 200-meter with her sprint of 24.63, while junior
Nia Parks followed just 0.09 seconds behind for third.
In his season debut, sophomore
Braden Parris finished fourth in the men's 200-meter with his time of 21.42.
In the women's high jump, junior
Hannah Pfiffner finished third with a clearance of 1.76m (5'9.25"), while freshman
Brianna Rivers matched the same height, good for a personal best and fifth place finish.
Sophomore
Niqualas Chew matched his personal best jump of 7.67m (25'2.00") for second in the men's long jump.
Junior
Tyson Ritz continues to build of the season's momentum, putting up a personal best for the third meet in a row by clearing 2.22m (7'3.25") for the event win and No. 3 in school history. Sophomore
Julian McCullough (2.18m (7'1.75")) and senior
Trey Bartholomew (2.14m (7'0.25")) follow for an Oklahoma podium sweep.
Sophomore
Mary Van Dyke put up a personal best of 9:45.29 in the women's 3000-meter for seventh.
In the men's 3000-meter, sophomores
Evans Biwott (7:56.58) and
Ronald Ngetich (8:03.13) finished in third and fifth, respectively.
During the World Athletics Bronze long jump section on the invitational, junior
Kennedy Stringfellow lept 7.87m (25'10.00") for third place and the second-best collegiate finish.
