Four Sooners Finish in Top 10, OU Gets Second at Aggie Invite

BRYAN, Texas – Oklahoma men's golf closed its regular season with a runner-up finish at the Aggie Invitational on Sunday.
The sixth-ranked Sooners (2, +12) trailed No. 19 Texas A&M entering the final round and couldn't chase down the Aggies on their home course. OU placed four golfers inside the top 10 at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club and notched its seventh top-three finish of the season.
Ryder Cowan (T4, +1) earned a share of fourth after rounds of 71-74-72. The sophomore led early on Saturday, but Texas A&M's Phichaksn Maichon took the 36-hole lead and pulled away Sunday to win by five strokes.
Drew Goodman (T6, +4) capped his regular season with a sixth-place finish after carding a 73 (+1) in the final round. It marked the 18th top-10 finish of his career.
Jase Summy (T9, +5) picked up his fourth straight top-10 showing, adding to a stretch of third-, second- and first-place finishes over the last month.
PJ Maybank III (T9, +5), playing unattached, joined Summy in ninth after firing a 69 (-3) on Sunday.
Freshman Clark Van Gaalen and Matthew Troutman tied for 18th at 7-over. Troutman has now finished inside the top 20 in eight of his 11 career events, while Van Gaalen owns four top-20 finishes in seven tournaments as a true freshman.
Jaxon Dowell, also competing individually, tied for 57th at 19-over.
The Sooners now shift focus to the postseason, beginning April 23-27 at the SEC Championship in St. Simons Island, Ga.
