NORMAN – Oklahoma track and field junior
Trey Bartholomew was named the SEC Indoor Men's Newcomer Field Athlete of the Year for his outstanding performance in his first season as a Sooner, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The 2025 indoor track and field awards were voted on by the league's 17 head coaches.
The transfer from Oklahoma Baptist made a significant impact for Oklahoma at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 28th. A native of Coweta, Okla., the high jumper finished fourth at the conference meet with a career-best 2.19m (7'2.25") clearance, climbing to No. 4 on OU's all-time performance list. Bartholomew was part of the men's high jump group that contributed 19 points to the team's final score (56.5) at the SEC Championships. He added five points, helping the Sooners place third for the program's best finish at a conference meet in over 15 years.
Since Jan. 28, the Oklahoma men's high jump group has ranked top-two in the nation per USTFCCCA's #EventSquad standings.
Prior to OU, Bartholomew competed for the Bisons for two seasons, earning three All-America awards at the Division II level and winning OU's own John Jacobs Invitational event title in 2023 and 2024.
This accolade marks Oklahoma Track & Field's first SEC yearly honor in program history.
