Sooners Finish Fifth at Schooner

NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf wrapped up the rain-shortened Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club, finishing fifth (2-under, 558) among the 16-team field.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament was shortened to 36 holes after torrential rain interrupted the second round. Scores from the second round were discarded and the field started the third round on Monday morning, finishing 36 holes on Saturday and Monday.
The Sooners shot 5-under 275 on Monday, improving eight strokes from their Saturday score of 3-over 283. Oklahoma was one of five teams that finished under par.
Freshman Audrey Rischer tied for 11th and fired rounds of 70-68, finishing 2-under in the final round. Rischer recorded five birdies – all on the front nine, including three consecutive holes on the fifth through seventh. She completed the back nine 2-over 36.
Senior Reagan Chaney and sophomore Emily Hun tied for 19th (E, 140). Chaney tallied four birdies, including back-to-back on the second and third holes, and finished even-par 70. Hun matched Rischer with a team-high five birdies, tallying three straight on the first through third holes. Hun finished the front nine 4-under 32 and the back nine 2-over 36, shooting a 2-under 68.
Junior Savannah Barber tied for 28th (1-over, 141) and fired a 1-under 69 in the final round, recording four birdies. Sophomore Gracie Mayo rounded out the OU lineup, tying for 37th (3-over, 153).
Junior MaKayla Tyrrell led the group of OU individuals, tying for 15th (1-under, 139). Tyrrell opened the event with an even-par 70 and fired a 1-under 69 on Monday.
Sophomore Holly McLean and redshirt sophomore Raychel Nelke tied for 28th (1-over, 141) and 42nd (4-over, 144), respectively. Junior Isabelle Schlick tied for 63rd (7-over, 147).

The Sooners travel to Tulsa for the Dale McNamara Invitational at Cedar Ridge Country Club Oct. 14-15.
